I just hope that Russ Wilcox and Jason McGill can get the deal done and bring Reece Thompson to York City. There are encouraging signs but until a deal is done nothing can be taken for granted.
After a fantastic time at Tomi's summer cottage we have now travelled up to Jyvaskyla for the World Rally Championship. A friend of mine allowed us a close up look at the all conquering VW Polo World Rally Car. Unfortunately at nearly £500000 a piece, the addition of a Cliffe Minstermen sticker was not an option!
A thoroughly deserved victory for the home side. Newcastle looked comfortable, moving the ball around with confidence for the first 20 minutes, but a fortunate finish from Straker put City 1-0 up mid-way through the first half. From that moment on the Geordie players heads dropped & City looked the better side. Many players made good impressions tonight, especially trialist 'A' who took his chance with a Tony Currie-style finish (Youth members search YouTube ... it'll be there), curling the ball inside the post from the edge of the box. All in all a good night for City & hopefully the doom merchants on the Press website will change their tune.
In the words of Michael Winner ... CALM DOWN DEAR ... IT'S ONLY PRE-SEASON !!
As usual I spoke to soon our chairman at the moment is at his desk in the heart of London but will be winging his way north for tonight's game on the 16.50 from Kings Cross arriving back in the smoke at 01.05. Dedication is what you need!
Good effort chief!
York City prepare to welcome Premier League Newcastle United to Bootham Crescent for tonight's jewel in the crown pre season game.
Members of the Cliffe Minstermen who are not mooching about in Finland or working in London will be at tonight's game.
Already there are plenty of Newcastle fans around the City so it should be a good crowd. Word on the street is that Newcastle like Middlesbrough are letting York keep all of the gate receipts from tonight's match unlike tight Yorkshire clubs L**ds and Sheff Wed who took their share of the gate.
Tomi arranged for us all to go to the top of the ski jump slope over looking Lahden Stadium. Incredible views!
We had to decorate the lift on the way up.
Ski jumpers must be mad!
A view from the bottom end.

FC Lahti saved their best away performance of the season for the visit of Cliffe Minstermen members Matt, Nicki, Tom and Jake with a 2-0 away win at rivals Turku.
Here are the boys proudly standing with the old faithful Cliffe Minstermen flag and our new flag making its debut the Cliffe Minstermen, York City, FC Lahti combo.
Matt is hoping the new stadium has beer huts just like in Finland.
Our sticker proudly on show with other ultra stickers.
Matt took time out to meet the Lahti faithful. As you can see they have a different take on casual culture.
The Nags Head.
The chaps behaving badly. I am sure we would be knicked for pelting the stewards with beer cans at BC!
