Today could well be the day when York City give its opponents Southend and absolute hammering. You get the sense that someone is going to suffer just like Scunthorpe and Portsmouth did last season. A win like those is coming and today would be an oppertunity to kick start our season and start to turn the draws into wins.
A Southend home game memory, is the game from 2 seasons ago when York had to win to help stave of relegation.
Chris Smith was a player that had two sides to his game, he was either brilliant or rubbish and not much in between. Sadly it was more rubbish then brilliance and ECW Gary Mills was guilty of sticking by his Captain when he was costing us goals and games. To be fair to Chris when he was on top form he was a really good player and we have a lot to thank him for, for getting into the league and in the Southens game playing a large part in keeping us falling back into the conference.
In all the years that I have watched City I have never seen a player use the Knee and Thigh as much as Captain Smith. Well on a warm day against the shrimpers, where only a win would do, those old bones helped save Our league status. His goal line clearances saved the day for us and for that Chris Smith will forever be remembered by everyone at York City.
Enjoy today's game.
